Rustic Coastal Mendocino Wedding
Ashley and Andrew met while working in Afghanistan and have traveled all over the globe. Since they love the outdoors, they chose a hidden gem of northern California: the rugged coastline of Mendocino. Their ceremony was held in the Cypress Grove , right at the very edge of the bluffs, overlooking the crashing northern California waves. Rather than traditional rows of chairs, family and friends gathered in a tight-knit circle as both the bride and groom's fathers shared the officiating.
The celebration afterwards was held at one of my favorite northern California venues in Mendocino, Spring Ranch, where the rustic decor of the old 1840 hay barn and all its antique knick knacks mixed with the elegance of wildflowers and lace. Some of my favorite details were the mix of antique chairs, the bride's floral crown in lieu of a traditional bouquet, and the couple's exquisite letter-pressed stationary. The party went late into the night and I love it when both young and old kick up their heels!
Ashley chose to wear a simple floral crown instead of carrying a bride’s bouquet.
Both of Ashley’s parents escorted her down the aisle to her ceremony site on the bluffs in Cypress Grove.
In place of a traditional alter, there was a circle of greenery including ferns and white poppies adorned the ground where the bride and groom stood.
The amazing character of Spring Ranch Barn!
